- My main interest is the evolution of common complex diseases, especially obesity. I use a broad approach, combining genetic data with comparative data (convergences) of not close related species. This last method is acutally the topic of Renato's (my husband's) PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. We are both associated to the Institute for Human Evolution at Wits. We plan to work together in future, in the fields of human evolution and/or evolutionary biology.
My training: I studied medicine in Bern, Switzerland, did a MD on the history of the aquatic hypothesis on human evolution, a PhD in behavioural ecology, a MSc in epidemiology and I just terminated my specialist training in prevention and public health. I work at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Bern, Switzerland.
