		<description>A very intriguing story indeed! However, at the same time it is an example of a more general aspect of development. We have entrusted various functions to the genes of others. For instance, we are (no longer) able to synthesize vitamin c (as we are not able to synthesize other vitamins). We rely on plants to do this job for us, so ultimately we rely on plant genes. What makes the example special, of course, is that we may also rely on organisms we harbor ourselves, and its relation to a well-known but less well-supported hypothesis. Nevertheless, I think it is good to see the generalities of this example, too.</description>
