George C. Williams died on September 8, 2010 at the age of 84. Without him, there would be no field of Darwinian medicine. His influence was far broader, however. He made seminal contributions to our understanding of sex, senescence, menopause and much more. Anything that did not quite fit an easy evolutionary understanding grabbed his attention, and he did not let go until he had an answer. He will be sorely missed by many.
