A Plenary Session on Mismatch will be a highlight of the annual scientific meeting of the Human Biology Association.  It  will be April 1, 2009 in Chicago from noon to 5:30 held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists.

Recent developments make it possible to go beyond this simple assertion and address the question of how fast we can evolve, and what implications this may have for modern human variation and susceptibility to
disease. These are the issues to be addressed by presenters at the 2009 HBA plenary session, organized by Gary James and Cynthia Beall. Dr. Rick Kittles of the Human Genetics Department at the University of Chicago is the discussant.

Embarrassment of riches: That same day the National Academy of Science will host a Sackler Symposium on Evolution, Health and Disease. Registration is still open.
